Organic growing media for Lotus & Tropical Lilies in Containers A Nutrient Rich Growing Media This mix has been created specifically for growing exotic lotus and tropical water lilies in ornamental containers. It is NOT intended for use in ponds. When you look at our other pond product the growing media may look the same, but it's not. This growing media is heavily fertilized for the demands of tropical lotus and water lilies. Too many nutrients in a pond encourage blanket weed and algae. Our other pond soils don't include a nutrient for this reason. (Lily fertilizer tablets need to be mixed in with the media at planting time). However in the UK, lotus and tropical lilies require special conditions - including heavy fertilization - and are therefore usually grown in containers for easy management. Full cultural instructions for growing lotus and tropical water lilies in the UK are included with this product. This 4 component blend comprises: 1. Organic Cocopeat which has natural rooting hormones. To stop the growing media becoming too compacted under water, we add 2. Coco Husk Chips and 3. Coco Husk Shell Charcoal to help keep the growing media fresh and sweet as well as to adsorb toxin build up. Finally we include 4. An Organic Slow-Release Fertilizer. Since this product is soil-less and peat free, it may tend to float until fully saturated. Once your lotus or tropical lilies are planted, add 25-50mm (1 to 2 inches) of coarse grade horticultural gravel to the surface of the basket. 10 litres will fill 2 water lily baskets 23cm dia x 13cm deep. To protect the growing tips of lotus tubers, they should be planted in round pots or planters, not baskets. THANK YOU FOR VIEWING THIS PRODUCT
